Why we keep it to dogs under 25 lbs
The 25-pound limit is not arbitrary. It matches the small-dog area at local parks, so play stays gentle and every dog stays in view.
A weight limit is a safety decision
A mixed-size pack sounds inclusive, but it is not safe for small dogs. A bigger dog can hurt a small one without meaning to, just by playing the way big dogs play. So this daycare is small dogs only.
Why 25 pounds specifically
Twenty-five pounds is not a number I made up. It is the same weight limit the small-dog area uses at the local public dog parks in Marina del Rey. That means the boundary is already familiar to the dogs and owners who come here. A dog who has played in the small-dog section at the park already knows what this kind of group feels like.
What the limit protects
- Gentle play. Dogs close in size play at the same scale. There is less risk of a small dog getting knocked over or overwhelmed.
- Real supervision. A small pack means I can actually watch every dog at once. I am not running a room of thirty. I am watching a handful.
- A calm group. Small dogs, temperament-tested, in a home instead of a kennel. That is the whole point.
How I check the fit
Weight is the easy part. The temperament is the part that matters more. Every dog meets me and my dog Sofie at Glen Alla Park before their first visit, so I can see how they actually feel around other dogs. Read what that meet-and-greet looks like.
If your dog is over 25 lbs
Then this is not the right place, and I will tell you that up front rather than take your money. There are excellent daycares in the area that take larger dogs. The honesty is part of the service.
